The initiative to organize school alternatives routes don't depend only from the town hall. Teachers and families can also organize to promote alternatives to the car. We should promote this idea and work to it.
As adults we must strive for a sustainable and safe school transportation.
Accidents involving child cyclists are often the result of the child playing, doing tricks, riding too fast or losing control. For teenage and adult cyclists, accidents are more likely to involve collisions with motor vehicles, but about 16% of fatal or serious cyclist accidents reported to the police do not involve a collision with another vehicle, but are caused by the rider losing control of their bicycle.
Every year in this country around 19,000 cyclists are killed or injured in reported road accidents, including around 3,000 who are killed or seriously injured.

Cycling Accidents

·Around 75% of fatal or serious cyclist accidents occur in urban areas 

.Around half of cyclist fatalities occur on rural roads

·75% happen at, or near, a road junction

·80% occur in daylight and 80% of cyclist casualties are male

·Almost one quarter of the cyclists killed or injured are children

·Around three quarters of cyclists killed have major head injuries.

The bicycle is the first vehicle that most of our students will use in their lives. It's therefore very important that our students know some basic rules of road safety education.

In classroom we can work:

-Choosing the right bike

-Know the parts and operation of the bicycle

-Learn the rules of the road leading

-Promote respect and responsibility on the bike.

Hello!

My name is Mariela and I live in Alcanar, province of Tarragona. We say that we are the last village of Catalonia.

I’m 34 years old, I’m married and we have one daughter.

When I was the age of study I thought that the life was short and I should enjoy it.

I didn’t study, I wanted to work, I wanted money for to buy capricious, to go at the cinema, travels…

After 10 years I decided to start studying.

I’m very busy, I haven’t got enough hours: the job, the house, the study and my family.

Victor Frank tell us in his book: Man´s Search for Meaning, that: The people must stand up to any suffering to achieve our goals. This is what I will do.

I like children, I enjoy them so I decided to study to teacher. 

My husband is a driving instructor and our house is very present driver education.

We consider road education very important for the future of our children so we are a good practitioners.

In the end, the children do and will do what they see at home.

In class we will brainstorm on the habits of the children and their parents to come to some conclusions. After we will do a mural of what is right and what is wrong.
